Born and raised in Porto, I have spent over a decade guiding visitors through Portugal’s most breathtaking landscapes. My journey in tourism began in 2013, as a captain for boat tours in the Algarve, but after just a year away, the Douro called me home. In 2014, I moved to Pinhão to begin guiding tours on the river, and by 2016, I launched my own company, specializing in wine tours. Since then, I have been sharing the beauty and rich winemaking heritage of this region with guests from around the world.
My tours are designed to be unhurried and immersive, focusing on the best viewpoints, exceptional wines, and the slower pace that defines life in the Douro. Whether departing from Porto or a hotel in the valley, I tailor each experience to showcase the region’s hidden gems, from small family-run wineries to scenic spots far from the crowds. As a local winemaker myself, with my own vineyard in Provesende-Marmelão - I offer a deep, personal perspective on the land, the wines, and the people who make the Douro so special.
Between guiding, winemaking (I have my own small vineyard here!), and running my tapas and wine bar in Pinhão, I split my time between the Douro and Porto. This connection allows me to offer travelers not just a tour, but an authentic introduction to the culture, traditions, and slower rhythm of life here. My wine tour is a relaxed and immersive journey through the heart of the Douro Valley, where we take our time to appreciate the region’s stunning landscapes, rich history, and world-class wines. The day begins with a scenic drive through the valley, stopping at breathtaking viewpoints that offer panoramic views of the terraced vineyards and winding river.
Along the way, we’ll visit two carefully selected wineries, where you will meet passionate winemakers, walk through their vineyards, and taste exceptional Douro and Port wines, gaining a deeper understanding of what makes this region so special.
We’ll also explore the charming village of Provesende, a historic town with cobbled streets, elegant manor houses, and a peaceful atmosphere that transports you back in time. Surrounded by vineyards, Provesende offers a glimpse into the soul of the Douro, far from the tourist crowds.
For lunch, we stop at a small, family-owned restaurant, where we’ll enjoy traditional Portuguese cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. This is a chance to experience the authentic flavors of the Douro, paired with excellent local wines, of course.

With an intimate knowledge of the valley and its wineries, towns, and landscapes, Jorge can take you wherever you’d like to go and plan any type of tour in the region.
If you’re staying in Porto, he’ll pick you up and drop you off there. Alternatively, he can pick you up in Porto and drop you off somewhere in the Valley, or do the reverse, meeting you in the Douro and providing onward transportation to Porto after the tour.
He can of course arrange winery visits and tastings, lunch in great local restaurants, and even private river cruises where you can tour the Douro River together with an expert local captain.
